When I came to the U.S. (30 years ago) and try to learn English by watching TV my favorite shows were "Cheers" and "This week with David Brinkley", and with Sam Donaldson, George Will, and Cookie Roberts. I found George Will (the Republican) always the wiser person and I am happy today to see that he quit the Republican party and is Trumps biggest critic. At least someone can see that the Republicans in the far right have turned the party into a dangerous cult.

That's funny Bungi. I grew up in Mexico with the Reader's Digest, in Spanish of course. Surprised it is still around. It has entertainment value. Definitely better that the Watchtower.

Blownaway "Illegal immigration puts a strain on the system"
It may, it may, buy I wonder how much of the 21 trillion dollar national debt and the hundreds of billions of dollars in annual deficits are caused by illegal aliens. It's a tough one, they take and give in ways that are hard to measure. For example, the lettuce or packaged meat, or nannies, or house cleaning are a lot cheaper thanks to illegal aliens. Those benefits to individual Americans gets lost. But even if you did your economics math in the worst possible way, even then the big problem facing this country is not illegal aliens. It's much, much bigger than that. But, who gives a shit, 21 trillion dollar debt doesn't stir any emotions in nativists, patriots, chauvinists. May be it is because the U.S. never ranks better than 30th in math and science when compared to other nations. I bet you most Americans don't even know how many zeros to put in a trillion. And the ones who know are likely immigrants or children of from Asian countries (Korea, China, India, Phillipines). America is starting to look like Germany in 1933.

Freeminfade:"One of the reasons for this is leftist intolerance versus right-wing tolerance. Right wingers are willing to hire openly left-wing employees in the interest of fairness. Left-wingers, utterly intolerant, will not allow a non-Liberal near them, and will harass them at every opportunity. The result over time is that conservative enterprises are infiltrated by leftists but leftist enterprises remain the same or get worse."
You my friend definitely are delusional with your self righteousness, paranoia and black and white view of the world. You went from Watchtower to Trumptower

Let's review, we are surrounded by cults. Scientology, JW's, Amway, far left, Trump cult, Ayn Rand devotees, etc etc. And of course, members of a cult will never admit they are in one.
Full disclosure, I just joined a good cult, I think, Sam Harris podcast loyal listeners. I invite you to join.

LEAK: 3000 buildings to liquidate. How to choose? (Watchtower propaganda video)

Let me play one from Morpheus book. The Watchtower is not in any economic trouble, not yet. They just want to sell at the height of the real estate market (right now). There's no question that the shrinking membership is a problem for the future, but they may still have plenty of cash. From what I can see, they don't spend very much on anything. Unlike real charities that give back to the community, the Watchtower gives nothing back and has volunteers doing everything.

The economy is great now, the stock market reaching new records. Yes, but remember George Bush legacy after eight years, the worst recession in decades, after presiding over a growing economy. What will Trump legacy will be at the end of eight years (assuming re-election)?. His tariff wars don't bode well. The economy started growing and kept growing through the entire Obama and Clinton presidencies. Let's see if Trump can match that.
As much as I dislike big government, the numbers don't lie, the economy in recent times seems to do better under Democrats presidencies.

Supreme Court Rules in Favor of Baker Who Refused to Bake Cake for Gay Couple
by Simon inseems like such an obviously correct decision to overturn the previous overreach - it should never have been necessary to go to the supreme court but happened because the rights of the religious were being ignored.. as the fundamental level, no one should be able to compel you to work for them or to provide services that go against your beliefs, and certainly not have the government be able to force you to comply.. if this was allowed there would be so many unreconcilable situations that would clog up courts over nonsense.. i also have little patience for these activists that intentionally look to be offended.
it really doesn't do their cause any good to go round looking to make trouble for people.
it's also misguided because it ends up strengthening religious rights over effectively stupid issues.. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/06/04/us/politics/supreme-court-sides-with-baker-who-turned-away-gay-couple.html.

These gay activists could use their time in a better way. Instead of trying to force other people to accept them and wasting our court systems valuable time, they should look at the opportunity before them. They can open a bakery to serve the gay community and everyone else or not. If they decide to serve exclusively gay people, that's fine with me. From a business point of view, it'd be stupid, but they would have the right to serve whomever they want. And I would defend that right.
No, I am not a homophobe. I support gay marriage all the way without reservation, but I am opposed to people playing victims when they are not. They are just plain obnoxious.

Any private business should be able to discriminate on the basis of whatever they want, race included. It's stupid and bad for the bottom line, but it should be a protected right to handle my business in whichever stupid way I want. That's true freedom from government tyranny. But that's just me. Go ahead and hit the dislikes.
